The SLOW progress on our new house

So, we purchase the house in April 2009 and they are FINALLY starting to build! Move in date is January 27, 2011...hopefully! Looks like they at least have our bathroom done! Seriously, this is RIGHT in front of our house...nice.

Our fist visit to the house as a family. Foundation, front porch, main floor and (some) walls are up.

The "more advanced" photo is of our neighbors home, but same design as ours, corner lot as well so this is essentially what our house will look like...at some point.

Summer 2010

Summer vacation has finally arrived! Spent a few days camping with the boys about 3 hours west of us, had a great time! We're heading out to Niagra Falls tomorrow for some "simulated indoor skydiving" and a couple of days at Great Wolf Lodge so we're all excited about that. Brad leaves for University in a few weeks, although he still doesn't have a place to live...we were hoping he'd get into residence, but doesn't like that's going to happen so we're working on "plan B". He's hoping to find a roommate, last resort we buy him a car and he commutes:( We'll keep you posted!

Feeling Good!

Been a while but lots of good news around here! I just completed my first "race" today. Participated in the "Around The Bay" 5km Race...my feet are killing me but I loved it and hope do some more! More good news - we finally sold our house and the deal is sweeeet! Our new home won't be built until October (at least...wish Doug were here and on the construction team!), so the plan had been to sell our current home and find some cheap apt. to rent until the new house was done. This of course would mean moving twice, paying for additional storage, general chaos until we're into our new house. BUT...the buyers of our house are purchasing it with the plan to rent it out and decided to rent it to us until our home is built...for $500.00/m cheaper that what we pay for our current mortgage! So, everybody is happy and we get to take our sweet time packing, what a great stress relief!
As if that weren't enough...Brad just found out that he's been accepted to Ryerson U in the extremely elite Film Program! He has been dreaming about this for years and we are EXTREMELY proud of him! He will likely be living in Toronto, in residence so that will be very tough for me (sniff sniff) but we're just so happy for him. I have applied to U. of Manitoba Distance Ed. to get my BSW, still waiting to see if they want me, but fingers crossed. Kevin finished his Bantam hockey season yesterday and did really well, team came in 3rd place with an awesome final game! That's about all the good news I take for now and we're off to mom and dad's to celebrate some birthdays:)

Chirstmas 2009

Another awesome, yet different Christmas for us. For the first time in 18 years, we had neither of the boys on Christmas morning. Kevin was with his mom and Brad with Rob so it was sad, but we made the best of it. The boys both arrived to us before noon, we had a great brunch with Paul's family and then a great dinner with the McCrea side. Lots of laughter and wonderful memories, looking forward to next Christmas in our new house (hopefully!) Hoping all of you had a fun and safe Christmas:)

Our Boy Becomes a Man (sniff sniff)

September 13, 2009 - Brad turned 18! Rob and Mike, Paul and I had a family party for him. Beautiful weather, great to see the Alexanders and McCreas together again. Brad is continuing with another semester of High School and will be off to University in Sept. 2o10. I too will be back at school then, although likely through "Distance Ed" working on my Bachelor of Social Work. Brad was a little concerned that we would be a school together...every young mans dream, right?

Annual McCrea Sisters Camping Extravaganza

The Clan (excluding Ted, Brad and Kevin) took on Presqui'lle Park over Labour Day weekend and had a blast! Great weather, nice campground, CLEAN BATHROOMS, lots of booze and amazing campfire building skills (sometimes).

Brad's Prom

Proud mama here! Brad attended his high school prom last Friday night. In true Brad fashion, he wanted to be different and chose to wear his dad's kilt etc...and looks very handsome if I do say so myself! (Brad does, not his dad...ew!) Brad applied to the Film program at Ryerson, but has been put on the "waiting list" for now. He has decided to return to high school for 1 more semester, improve his marks , get a full time for a few months and apply again next time. He is an incredibly talented film maker, you can see his work on youtube if you search "2:47 Westdale"...it's amazing!
